Hi, I’m Katie, one of the Independent midwives at One to One Births.
To tell you a bit about me, I live on my own with my cat and dog whom I love dearly, and are my own little babies really. In my spare time I like to catch up with friends, usually I’m doing some course or another to further my knowledge, and weather permitting I like to get out in the open air and walk, or go horse riding.
I became a midwife after first qualifying and working as a general nurse in the NHS. I love my job as a midwife, being with a woman from first finding out she is pregnant, looking after her and her baby, and her family. Building trust, and a relationship, being there to support the birth of her baby, and looking after the family unit as they all get to know their new addition. Being an Independent midwife enables me to really fulfil this role, and not only do I build relationships with families and their babies and empower women to make the right choices for them, and their baby, but I also get to make some incredible friends.
For me, Midwifery is more than delivering babies, and filling out forms, it’s about the bigger picture, being a privileged part of a family’s life and being able to support women who know and trust me at sometimes the most scary and vulnerable time of their life.
Looking forward to meeting you, your family, and your little bundle of joy.
