On being me......
I am a wife, a mother of 2 children, a sister, a daughter, a friend and a colleague. These roles, and many more, make up my daily existence!! I love my 2 dogs (and my 2 children!!!), sharing quality time with my patient and understanding husband, walking, reading and sewing.
I spend my days cleaning up muddy footprints, laughing at the antics of my 2 ‘babies’ (and my 2 children!!!), sometimes crying with frustration, fear and pain when life doesn’t go as planned.
I hold hands, kiss brows, wipe away tears, lend my shoulders for support and try and instil in my children the wisdom and experience I have gained through the years so that they can lead positive, fulfilled , happy lives.
On being a midwife.....
I started my training in September 1993 and since that time I feel that my role as a midwife has given me a passion and a strength that I have never before experienced. I have shared so many wonderful experiences and been present at some not so wonderful!!! I spend my days laughing with joy at the wonder of birth, crying with anguish and pain when things don’t always go to plan. I hold hands, mop brows, massage backs, kiss cheeks. I lend my shoulders for support and my ears for women to tell me their stories. I share my skills, my knowledge and my wisdom to empower parents to achieve the most positive, gentle and safe birth experience.
My life as a wife, mother, friend, midwife – not so different really..... |
